The Mafra school is headed by Professor João Gutemberg, a black belt under Professor Vinícius Constantino. The school is an extension of Icon Jiu-Jitsu Ericeira.

Professor João moved to Portugal from Brazil in 2015, where he studied under Mestre Sylvio Behring from white to  purple belt.

During his childhood in Brazil he studied Shotokan karate under Sensei Sebastião at Marapendi. His first Jiu-Jitsu experience was in the early 90s, at which time he was a professional surfer. After his retirement from competitive surfing, Jiu-Jitsu became his full-time vocation.
